Cottages By The Sea - Days Cottages, Truro, MA

If you ever rode Route 6A through Truro, you have seen Days’ Cottages. They started way back in the early 1900’s when a man named Joseph Days purchased land and wanted to move his Provincetown house here on the beach. The area was desolated and the local people called it “Days’ Folly.” Some issues during The Great Depression derailed his dream, but he then made another plan, to build small beach cottages here. Workers were happy to get back to work in the fall of 1930, when work started on the first five cottages. Joe built a small residence for himself, a rental office along with a seasonal grocery store. He did not have his dream house on the beach, but now he had a new business, and business boomed in 1931 and more cottages were planned. The Days Family retained ownership of the cottages until the 1990’s. Some private owners still rent their cottages.

This is what caught my eye; I hope you enjoy!
