Preserving & Presenting Long Island History Since 1955 - Smithtown Historical Society
The Smithtown Historical Society oversees several historic buildings, including the Epenetus Smith Tavern, Judge J. Lawrence Smith Homestead, and Franklin O. Arthur Farm. The Society is committed to the preservation, restoration, and interpretation of Long Island’s heritage for the education and enjoyment of the public. The Society sits on about 22 acres of land on Main Street in Smithtown, NY and they host events, educational programs, and reenactments to bring Long Island’s past to life.

What you should know:
Tours of the property are self-guided tours with many signs explaining the buildings’ past lives.
The buildings may only be open for special occasions / tours.
The grounds are open most days to explore.
On-site parking is available.
Restrooms are available.
There are walking trails on the property.
