A Castle in the Bronx -The Villa Charlotte Bronte
The Villa Charlotte Bronte
No, this is not the southern coast of Italy or a villa in France. The southern part is right, but it’s part of the Bronx.
Here is what caught my eye. I hope you enjoy!

Villa Charlotte Bronte takes on the look of an Italian Villa, which will make you forget that you are standing on Palisades Avenue in the Spuyten Duyvil section of the Bronx in New York City. It is actually a three story high coop building built in 1927 on 1.27 acres. Local lawyer, John J. McKelvey, chose Architect Robert W. Gardner to build overlooking the spot where the Harlem River meets the Hudson River causing turbulent waters, Dutch “spuit den Duyvil or “spitting devil” then eventually Spuyten Duyvil. He created eight buildings, separated into two sections by a courtyard. Units in the Villa do not come on the market often, but when they do, they go fast, some with wood burning fireplaces, terraces, French doors and period details.
