A Medieval Walled City In Portugal - Obidos
Visiting Obidos today is like visiting the charm and cultural scene of Portugal’s past. You can walk the ancient wall that surrounds the city, taking in the panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. You can admire the impressive well-preserved, 12th-century medieval Obidos castle, which served as a royal palace which dates back to Portugal’s Roman occupation. Today, its look is Moorish, and this is the result of many restorations from different Portuguese kings starting in 1148. You can see the Church of Sao Pedro and the Church of Santa Maria, the most important religious building in Obidos. White-washed homes and shops with colorful flowers can be seen as you walk the narrow, cobblestone streets as they wind through the ancient city.
This is what caught my eye; I hope you enjoy!
