Home Of The Stone Of Eloquence - Blarney Castle

The present Blarney Castle is the third structure to be erected on the site and was built by Dermot MacCarthy in 1446. The famous Blarney Stone is at the top of the castle, so be prepared to climb 100 steps, lay on your back, hanging off a type of ledge (with assistance) if you want to kiss it. Just a short walk from the castle is the baronial mansion built in 1874 and designed by John Lanyon. The house has been restored to its former glory and is open to the public for tours certain times / days only. It is the private home of Sir Charles Colthurst, 10th Baronet. Unfortunately, when I was there, it was not open.

Here is what caught my eye, I hope you enjoy!
