Part Of The Borscht Belt - Catskill NY
The village of Catskill, a historic river town located along the banks of the mighty Hudson, was incorporated in 1806. New Yorkers would head to the Borscht Belt to sunbathe, swim, dance, and dine during the summer months and the area soon became known as the Jewish vacationland.
By the 1980’s, the once busy region became desolate as New Yorkers chose other vacation destinations. Vintage storefronts, commercial buildings and homes line the Main Street. Catskill is home to Cedar Grove, the Hudson River School founder Thomas Cole, and the Rip Van Winkle Bridge crossing the Hudson River to the town of Hudson.
Here is what caught my eye, hope you enjoy!
