Product Of Decades Of Erosion - Driftwood Beach

Located on the north end of Jekyll Island, Driftwood Beach is an amazing site with the beautiful driftwood and trees left behind as a result of years of erosion. What was once a maritime forest is now a sandy shore lined with weathered tree trunks and branches, creating a sight that's truly unique.

More than 1,000 feet of Jekyll Island’s coastline has eroded, and Driftwood Beach is the visually dramatic evidence.

What you should know:

  • Multiple beach access points along North Beachview Drive provide access to Driftwood Beach.

  • There are designated parking areas located along the road, next to each beach access point.

  • Access to the beach is free but there is a toll to get on Jekyll Island.

  • There are walking trails on the beach.

  • You could spend a couple of hours exploring here.
