Sandy Beaches & Old Town On Portugal’s Coast - Cascais

Cascais is a coastal resort town in Portugal, just west of Lisbon. It is know for its sandy beaches, busy marina, historic mansions and beautiful views. Walking the beautiful lanes, narrow streets and wide promenade of the picturesque old town gives you a real feel for the charming town. I was told that Cascais is where Portuguese Royalty used to vacation and it is steeped in history.

What you should know:

  • You could spend a couple of hours to an entire day exploring the city, depending on your level of interest.

  • People are friendly and helpful, many speaking English.

  • The currency is the Euro (EU).

  • There are many restaurant / cafe options.

  • A valid passport is required, and you will need a travel power adapter if you are from the U.S.

  • Tipping is generally not expected, but feel free to leave something extra when you receive exceptional service.

  • Parking can be an issue in season.
