The Home Of The First Washington Monument - Baltimore MD

In this post I highlight the Mount Vernon neighborhood, the Cylburn Arboretum and the Civic Work’s Clifton Mansion.

The Mount Vernon neighborhood is considered the cultural center and one of Baltimore’s oldest neighborhoods. It surrounds the original Washington Monument with four parks, cobblestone streets, elegant 19th century homes, churches, restaurants, shops, as well as the Peabody Library and Walters Art Museum. Beautiful mansions, churches and civic buildings offer a wide array of architectural styles that blend to create an attractive urban area.

The Cylburn Arboretum is the beautiful Baltimore city oasis and includes a mansion that was home to the Tyson and Cotten families before it was transformed into the current arboretum in 1954.

The Clifton Mansion started out as an elegant plantation house, then a summer estate before going on to be the current Civic Work’s center and park.

Here is what caught my eye, I hope you enjoy!
