Fredericksburg is famous for being George Washington’s childhood hometown and playing a significant role in the Civil War. The charming city contains many historic buildings, cemeteries, churches and shops, restaurants and galleries.

The 1826 building on Princess Ann Street now called the Brennan Building

The Fredericksburg Court House is the only Gothic Revival courthouse in Virginia. It was designed by architect James Renwick and built in 1852.

The Presbyterian Church was built in 1833 and restored in 1866 after being badly damaged during the Civil War.

St. George’s Episcopal Church was built in 1849 replacing a brick building erected in 1815.

What you should know:

• Public restrooms are available.

• There is plenty to see while walking the streets of Fredericksburg.

• There are many area restaurant options.

• On the street parking is available, some metered; check posted parking regulations signs.

• You could spend a couple of hours to several days here exploring the city depending on your level of interest.
