A Collection Of Historic Monumnets in Edinburgh - Calton Hill

This park is right in the middle of the downtown Edinburgh, and easy to get to. Climbing to the top is a great way to orient yourself with Edinburgh. I did upon arriving, because it was close to my hotel. The hill was purchased by the town council in 1724, and was the first public park in Scotland. Calton Hill is part of Edinburgh’s UNESCO World Heritage Site.

What you should know:

  • There is no admission fee for the park.

  • It is at the top of a hill, not too challenging, just be prepared.

  • There are walking trails.

  • Public restrooms are available.

  • You could spend an hour or so here.

  • There is on the street parking nearby.

  • Wear comfortable shoes.

  • There are few restaurant options nearby.
