Downtown Saratoga Springs offers a charming mix of old and new. The main street is Broadway, lined with Victorian-style buildings housing boutiques, restaurants and galleries. The Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) hosts concerts and other performances during the summer months. Saratoga Springs is known for its rich history, particularly its association with horse racing and the Revolutionary War. You can visit sites like the Saratoga Battlefield, where the Battles of Saratoga took place, a turning point in the Revolutionary War. Saratoga Springs is also famous for its natural mineral springs.

Saratoga Race Course is a Thoroughbred horse racing track located on Union Avenue and was opened in 1863. It is one of the oldest most prestigious horse tracks in the United States.

Saratoga Spa Park is a National Historic Landmark and contains a complex of classical buildings which are home to the Performing Arts Center, Little Spa Theater, National Museum of Dance, Automobile Museum, Gideon Putnam Resort and Roosevelt Baths and Spa.

Victoria Pool complex was built in 1935. New York Governor Franklin D. Roosevelt became a strong proponent of healthful environment of Saratoga Springs.

What you should know:

• The town is walkable, and it is a great way to get around.

• There walking trails in nearby Saratoga Spa State Park.

• On the street parking is available; check posted parking regulations signs.

• You could spend a couple of hours to a couple of days exploring here.

• There are many restaurant options.

• People are friendly and helpful.

• If the horses are running, try and catch a race.
