The mansion that houses the Nassau Country Museum of Art, in Roslyn Harbor, was originally built by Lloyd Stephens Bryce utilizing the Neo-Georgian designs of architect Ogden Codman.

Old Westbury Gardens is the former estate of John Shaffer Phipps who had the 44-room English manor house house commissioned as a wedding present to his wife, Margarita Grace Phipps. It was completed in 1906 by the English designer George A. Crawley on 200 acres of formal gardens, landscaped grounds, woodlands, ponds and lakes.

In 1902, Herbert Pratt hired James Brite to build the first house to occupy the site. Ten years later the house was torn down and the current building was constructed.

Eagles Nest is the Spanish Revival 24-room mansion on an estate in Centerport, NY overlooking Northport Harbor. The house was commissioned by William K. Vanderbilt II and designed by Warren and Wetmore.

Its main focus was for gentleman’s sport of hunting fish and fowl as well as other outdoor activities. The club served members from 1886 though the 1960’s, and then through the 1970’s as the Connetquot River Club.

Lousine and her husband, famed college football player-turned stockbroker, Harold Weeks commissioned Grovsner Atterbury to design a French Chateau which was completed in 1918.

Cedarmere is the historic home of William Cullen Bryant on seven Roslyn Harbor acres. Bryant was a prominent nineteenth century American poet, newspaper editor, civic leader and leading figure in the fight against slavery.

The 216-acre property is home to four former Gilded Age homes of the Gould and Guggenheim families, now owned by Nassau County and operated by the Sands Point Conservancy.

Rosemary’s Farm or sometimes called the Conklin Estate was a Long Island Gold Coast estate on the hills overlooking Cold Spring Harbor. The estate was owned by Ronald Conklin, who operated realty firms, and his wife who was an opera singer and had her own private outdoor amphitheater.

Caumsett State Historic Park Preserve is situation on a scenic peninsula extending out into the Long Island Sound and offers miles of nature trails.

Sea Cliff is not the usual look-alike homes Long Island town that dominate parts of Nassau County. Instead, the village has Victorian buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places with clapboard, shingle, turrets, wood trim and carvings. Many were build as summer homes in the the late nineteenth century resort town and they have been called one of the best collections of late Victorian homes in New York’s Nassau County. The town is intimate, at one square mile, most residents are able to walk to restaurants, beach, stores and 16 town parks without getting in the car.

Sefton Manor, now called Mill Neck Manor, is a Tudor-Revival mansion that sits on 86 acres on the north shore of Long Island overlooking the Sound in Mill Neck.

On the Long Island Sound, in the town of Lattingtown, John Edward Aldred, along with W.D. Guthrie decided to establish themselves on Long Island’s Gold Coast. In 1910 they bought out the incorporated village of Lattingtown, leveled some 60 houses and businesses and built two mansions on the waterfront.

Coe Hall is the 65-room centerpiece of the 409-acre Planting Fields Historic State Park located in Oyster Bay, New York. The estate was originally landscaped by Frederick Law Olmsted, featuring greenhouses, rolling lawns, formal gardens, woodland paths and outstanding plant collections.

Westbook Farms started when William Bayard Cutting purchased the George C. Lorillard estate on the Connetiquot River in the Long Island town of Great River. Cutting was a New York City lawyer and sugar beet refiner, who made his fortune in railroads and in the development of the Red Hook, Brooklyn waterfront.
