When you visit Mordecai Historic Park you will get a sense of what life was like during the period of Raleigh’s founding.

On my visit to Raleigh I wandered through a few historic districts with their amazing historical architecture, two former hospitals, a cemetery and a historical park.

Founded in 1887, Virginia Beach was developed as a resort area, but after World War I it became an important base in the national coastal-defense system.

Chincoteague Island is quaint seaside village. It is a short drive to Virginia’s Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge, on Assateague Island, where you can see the world-famous Chincoteague Ponies.

The museum showcases over 30 aircraft varying in sizes. You will see cargo haulers, fighters, helicopters, a bomber and Air Force II.

Cedarmere is the historic home of William Cullen Bryant on seven Roslyn Harbor acres. Bryant was a prominent nineteenth century American poet, newspaper editor, civic leader and leading figure in the fight against slavery.

The 216-acre property is home to four former Gilded Age homes of the Gould and Guggenheim families, now owned by Nassau County and operated by the Sands Point Conservancy.

Naples is a well-known city in southern Italy that has a mix of tattered Old World beauty and modern. There are castles and palaces, monuments and statues. The city’s historic district is on the UNESCO World Heritage Site list.

Madrid is a cheerful and vibrant city at all hours. It is known for its rich history, architecture, late dinners, art and culture. It is diverse and welcoming with every style of neighborhood and culture.

The park has a number of Long Island period structures to represent a typical pre-civil War on Long Island.

Berlin is a diverse city with a vibrant culture scene. It has both new and historic architecture, monuments and memorial sites commemorating the city’s unique history.

Lenoir Preserve is a 40-acre nature preserve adjacent to the Old Croton Aqueduct on the slopes overlooking the Hudson River. It is made up of three former Yonker estates.

Back in the day, architects, painters and sculptors came to Rome to create the city you will see today. Thankfully, it has not gentrified.

Storm King Art Center is a 500-acre outdoor museum of contemporary sculpture, with ten miles of walking trails, located in the New York’s Hudson Valley.

The historic beach town is sometimes called the ‘Saint-Tropez of Spain’. Sites is renowned worldwide for its Horror Film Festival, Carnival and LGBT culture.

Provincetown is famously known as the location where the pilgrims first landed back in 1620, but today is a vibrant, thriving and diverse playground. The historic fishing town sits on the edge of the continent, 60 miles out to sea on the tip of Cape Cod.

Amsterdam is the capital of the Netherlands and is sometimes referred to as the ‘Venice of the North’ because of the large number of canals, now designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Amalfi Coast is a group of towns on the rugged southern Italian coast, each town offering something a little different. I think the area is one of the most beautiful parts of the world. Towns nestled in steep cliffs that flow down to the shimmering blue sea.

In the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, South Beach was mostly coconut farmland, Miami Beach exploded as a beachfront community in the 1920’s. Many of the building styles included Art Deco, Nautical Moderne and Streamline Moderne.

The Sarah P Duke Gardens consist of approximately 55 beautifully landscaped and wooded acres including terraced gardens, fountains, gazebos, bridges at Duke University.
